Priyasheela was born in Amdanda, Jharkhand. She now lives in Ranchi where she works as a Community Correspondent for Video Volunteers. Priyasheela saw her husband taking photographs and thought she wanted to try doing the same: "I wanted to take pictures of important persons and events in the area where I live." Priyasheela is interested in documentary photography and, in the future, plans to focus her work on violence against women.
The Project:
Priyasheela's ongoing work focuses on the life of a widow and how she supports her family through a job as a construction worker: "I went to shoot a video for Video Volunteers and that's when I first met the woman in the photographs. She took me to her home and, after talking to her for some time, I realised I wanted to focus my work on her life."
