Anita Devi Rai

Community Correspondent, Varanasi

Anita grew up in Lower Parel, Mumbai, where she stayed for the first 15 years of her life. She now lives in Jeetapur, in eastern Uttar Pradesh, where she works as a Community Correspondent for Video Volunteers. Anita was introduced to photography after working on a joint project between Video Volunteers and the UNDP in eastern Uttar Pradesh. The project used photography as a tool to evaluate changes taking place in the community as a result of different development initiatives.

The Project:

Anita's work looks at the life of a poor woman who lost her home during the monsoons and now lives alone in a room in a school. In the future, Anita intends to focus her work on the relationship between a disabled couple living in her community.
