Halomuni Kuardar

Community Correspondent, Orissa

Halomuni was born and raised in Javramunda, Orissa, before moving to Tikrivada where she studied for 5 years. After her studies, she returned to Javramunda where she now works as a Community Correspondent for Video Volunteers. It was through working with VideoVolunteers that Halomuni became interested in photography: "I saw photography as a necessary way to add to the stories that I was already beginning to tell through video (at Video Volunteers)."

The Project:

Halomuni's ongoing project looks at the destructive influence of excessive alcohol consumption on the community where she lives: "I saw so many families destroying their lives through drinking and wanted to document this."
