Bhan Sahu

Community Correspondent, Chhattisgarh

Bhan was born in Machandur, Chhattisgarh. She now lives in Ambagarh where she works as a Community Correspondent for Video Volunteers. Bhan has always been interested in photography, but never thought she would have the chance to learn to take pictures: "I saw photography as a way to complement the video work I had already started doing with Video Volunteers." Bhan eventually hopes to complete a body of work showing something of the struggle of women living in her area of India.

The Project:

Bhan's project initially dealt with the life of a Ramnami man she met at the Kumbh Mela (as shown below). For her future work, however, she intends to focus on a blind teacher who teaches sighted students in her community.
